THE ARTIST'S VISION

"The sand is still a soft grit under my feet, the old wood of the house still holds the deep, drowsy warmth of the sun. But I am not climbing. I am standing at the threshold of the second level, the cool weight of a glass in my hand, and time has stopped turning. Because you are there, always there, caught in the gentle, hypnotic sway of the hammock.

Your knees are drawn up to your chest, a posture of such profound innocence it feels sacred, and your thoughtful gaze is lost somewhere over the horizon where the blue of the sky bleeds into the sea. But it’s the corner of your mouth that undoes me—the ghost of a smirk, a tiny, knowing curve that holds a secret the ocean itself couldn’t guess.

Seeing you like that, the dreamer and the conspirator, the serene saint with a beautiful, private joke… that’s when I knew. The ice in my glass has never melted. You have never looked away. And I am forever standing here, on the edge of that moment, undone by the beautiful, silent truth of your smile."
