The Visceral Line
Art is not simply what is seen — it is the feeling held in the line.
My work is rooted in the discipline of classical figurative art, elevated by a highly technical, illustrative precision. I draw the human face and classical figures entirely by hand—using graphite, charcoal, watercolor, and sanguine on museum-grade cotton paper. I am not looking to create a mechanical copy; I am chasing a true interpretation. The subject is always at the center, captured with an intensity and quiet vulnerability that a photograph can only hint at.
I am Andros Karr, an award-winning contemporary artist based in Houston. What began as a classical discipline has become a dedicated pursuit: rendering people and figures by hand, in a way that lasts. My pieces hang in private collections, and whether I am creating an original classical figure for the gallery or drawing a bespoke portrait, my philosophy is absolute: every piece is a one-of-one original. No prints, no reproductions, no AI—made once, for one collector.
A commissioned interpretation is not a product; it is a permanent record of someone who matters—made to be lived with daily and passed down for generations. It is crafted for the collector who understands that a hand-made original holds a presence that can never be replicated.
Strictly limited commissions and curated original works. Houston, Texas — and by private arrangement worldwide.
